LOU ROPER

  Lou began training all breeds of horses over thirty-five years ago at his family's facility in Davis, CA.  Moving to the San Diego area in 1973, he has continued to show, train, and win many U.S. National, Canadian National, and Regional titles in various disciplines including Trail, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, and Reining.

Lou also instructs both youth and amateur riders, many of whom have been successful in the show ring winning numerous Regional and National titles.  He owns and operates The Roper Ranch in the Twin Oaks Valley of San Marcos, CA, where he and his staff have 40 to 50 horses of many breeds in training.  He also travels to Europe, Canada, and throughout the US giving clinics and seminars.

While Lou has many titles in various disciplines in the open and breed divisions, some of his Arabian and Half Arabian titles in Trail include the following:

      2 times U.S. National Champion and Reserved Champion trail (simultaneously)

      3 times of 4 or more in the Top Ten

      dozens of U.S. National Top Ten and Regional Championships
 

2004

Canadian Nationals:  Champion and Reserve Champion in both the Purebred and Half/Arabian trail, and the Champion in both the Purebred and Half/Arabian trail AOTR.

5-time nomination by The Arabian professional & Amateur Horseman's Association, for the Working Western Trainer Of The Year award.  (6 times through Scottsdale 05')
